Christian | Standing Stones Healing Co. I got attuned for reiki level 1 a few weeks ago. I felt fine the first week but now I’m experiencing anxiety. I can’t sleep and I’m extremely dizzy and off balance. I was told by my the person who attuned me that my 3rd eye and crown is open and I need to be more grounded but I’m not sure how to ground more. I'm sorry to hear of these challenges and am sending you lots of blessings and best wishes. Most new Reiki practitioners don't experience any noticeable changes after an attunement, so it's important to note that if someone has been attuned and doesn't feel anything during or afterward, it doesn't mean it didn't work. It's much more common to not have these experiences than it is to have them. But these experiences, like headaches, sleeplessness, or etc., do happen and are not uncommon after an attunement. Of course, we always want to rule out something physical that doesn't have to do with the attunement, so please do keep an eye on your symptoms and seek medical attention if they don't improve. Any effects that we might feel from a Reiki session or attunement are typically short-lived and gone within a couple of days. Some refer to these kinds of experiences as a "healing crisis." Reiki attunements and sessions can bring up all kinds of feelings, sensations, and emotions, and because healing happens in different ways, Reiki attunements and sessions can have negative effects that are part of the healing process. I talk about it in the video below, but this kind of experience can happen when we're ready to release certain physical or emotional energy. But these kinds of experiences are common with the shifting of energy and increasing of your vibration. And yes, grounding will help. Also know that if you did nothing and these experiences are a result of your attunement, they will go away on their own and will not last. There are many ways to ground, but here are a few:
Grounding is really just bringing yourself back down from the high vibes, and there are so many ways to do this. These are just a few. The important thing is what feels right to you, but practicing self-Reiki can really help with grounding. You've just been attuned to Level 1, so you're in the midst of your 21 day cleanse, or 21 days of self-practice. Offering yourself Reiki every day definitely helps with post-attunement sensations, and I encourage you to lean on your self-Reiki practice to support you during this time.
