Can You Get Reattuned to Reiki?

Can you get reattuned to Reiki? Because reattunement isn't necessary why would someone choose to get “re attuned”? If you are already attuned, what exactly would it do?

​Reiki attunement is for life, so it's absolutely true that reattunement is completely unnecessary, but if we feel called to it, reattunement definitely can help us to deepen our experience.

I like to think of reattunement like renewing wedding vows. It's completely unnecessary, but people still do it as an expression of their love and as a recommitment to their relationship. Just like the married couple is already married and still married even without renewing their vows, the practitioner is already attuned and still attuned without reattunement. But we know that intention setting and ritual are powerful, and so reattunement can be helpful particularly if someone is wanting to renew their Reiki journey, affirm their commitment to their Reiki journey, or feels like they need/want a fresh start on their journey.

Sometimes I receive questions from people wanting to be reattuned because they think it didn't work the first time or that their connection is gone. I make sure they know this is not the case and that reattunement is unnecessary...but that it's absolutely ok if they want to be. I encourage anyone considering reattunement to reflect on the deeper reasons behind it and why they feel called to it. I think the important thing is to really explore why we might feel called to reattunement and our motivations.
