Christian Stone | Standing Stones Healing Co. When we think of starting a business, the first thing we usually think of is a business plan. Reiki business is no different, and many Reiki practitioners think they need to start here when starting a Reiki business. But do you? First...what the heck is a business plan, anyway? A business plan a multi-page document that captures your vision for your business. It's a place to put all of your business plans, goals, and ideas into one single document and serves as a roadmap for your business. Here are common sections of a business plan: 1. The business' purpose. 2. Target audience or clients. 3. Marketing strategy. 4. Mission statement. 5. Business type/Legal structure. 6. Products and services, including prices. 7. Market research. 8. Vision for the future. While these are common elements found in many business plans, you don't have to format your business plan in this way or include this exact info. Business plans are flexible and you can tailor your Reiki business plan to your specific needs and preferences and can include as much or as little as you want. Why create a Reiki business plan? A Reiki business plan can be a valuable tool, especially when you are just starting out. Here are some ways in which it can benefit your business: 1. Organize your thoughts: Creating a business plan can help you organize your ideas and concepts for your Reiki business. It allows you to put your vision into a structured format that you can refer back to. 2. Clarity: Clarity is essential in business...and increasing clarity in your business is always beneficial. A business plan helps you get clear on your business goals, target audience, and marketing strategy and stay focused on your vision and goals. 3. Legal Requirements: In some cases, you may be required to submit a business plan when registering your business with the state or seeking a loan. Be aware of the legal requirements in your area. Do you need a Reiki business plan? Not really. The truth is, you don't absolutely need a business plan to start a Reiki business. Many Reiki practitioners have successfully launched their businesses without one. And unless you need to create one to submit to a bank for a business loan or for some other legal circumstance, you don't have to create one at all. In fact, unless you're required to submit one, I don't recommend spending too much time on a Reiki business plan. Why? Because it can take time away from doing more important Reiki business tasks. You can spend too much time on the business plan, only to never look at it again. Creating a business plan can be helpful for your Reiki business, but don't fall into the trap of using the business plan as an excuse to delay other important steps, such as reaching out to potential clients, seeking referrals, or promoting your services.
