I recently took a Reiki 1 class so I am very new! I’m trying to do self healing but I can’t tell if I’m feeling anything so I don’t know if it’s working. I’m feeling a bit scattered. Any tips to help?
Yes! It's working! Sometimes it can be hard to tell, especially when we don't feel anything and aren't sure what we "should" be feeling. Please know that you may feel something or nothing and that is all ok.
This is a very common question. Please know that not only is it common to not feel anything, it's also ok. Many people don't feel anything at first and some never feel anything and some feel things from time to time, but not always. All are ok. Either way, the Reiki is working, so definitely keep doing your self-healing practice. If you can get into the habit of it now and stick with it, it will stick with you.
I personally don't feel anything during self-Reiki. I have been attuned to Reiki since 2014 and have practiced self-Reiki every day for several years. I encourage you to keep up with the self-Reiki practice and know that your experience is unfolding just as it needs to. Everyone's experience is different, so I encourage you to know that anything and everything can happen, including nothing at all. It's definitely still working, and you are definitely right where you need to be.
As far as the scattered feeling, sometimes a full session can feel daunting and can even make us feel anxious trying to fit a whole session into our busy day. So don't be afraid to scale it down a bit and do a quick session or even a few minutes or one minute. Even one minute makes a big difference in that minute.
There are plenty of other recommendations and suggestions that can help, but I encourage starting there. Often scattered feelings come from distraction and overwhelm, and one way to manage them that often helps is to make it less overwhelming by shortening the duration. As you get more comfortable, you can always increase the sessions.
