Christian Stone | Standing Stones Healing Co. Crystals are used by many Reiki practitioners in their in-person sessions. But can you use them in distance sessions, too. Yes, the ways in which we can use crystals in Reiki are infinite, and the ways in which we can use crystals in a distance Reiki session are infinite too. I want to say first and foremost that I actually don't, at this point on my Reiki journey, use crystals in either my in-person or distance sessions. I have crystals, I like them, I use them for meditations, but I really do not use them during my Reiki sessions. I don't have anything against using crystals during Reiki sessions, but it's just not a part of my Reiki journey at this time and not something that I feel called to do right now. But it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with using crystals. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of practitioners who do use crystals during Reiki sessions and who think that they are really powerful in the sessions. 1. Lay out the crystals in a line with one crystal representing each chakra. Even though I don't use crystals in my distance sessions, there are lots of ways that you can. One way that many practitioners do is that they'll lay out the crystals and have one for each chakra. Oftentimes, the crystals will correspond with the chakra, so they might use rose quartz for the heart chakra, for instance. They'll lay them out in a line and then use those crystals as a proxy for the client that they're sending Reiki to. Some practitioners might use a stuffed animal or a picture of a person to send distance Reiki to that person. We don't need to use a proxy for distance Reiki, but there are plenty of ways to do so if we choose, and one way is with crystals. Some practitioners may use multiple crystals, a single crystal, or a crystal for each chakra. 2. Create a crystal grid. A second way that you can use crystals for distance Reiki is to set up a crystal grid. Crystal grids are simply patterns of crystals, usually laid out in a circular or mandala-like way. Grids can be very simple with just a few crystals or they can be very elaborate with lots of different crystals. Crystals can be chosen based on the person, situation, or intention you're sending Reiki to, the intention itself (so, for instance if you're sending Reiki to a relationship challenge, you may feel called to use rose quartz), or even based on the crystal colors and shapes and the artistic factor of the grid. But you can create a grid of crystals and send Reiki to the grid. 3. Have the person you're sending Reiki to choose the crystals. A third way that you could use crystals in distance sessions is to have the person you're sending Reiki to choose crystals that resonate with them before the session. You can offer them a choice of crystals. I first recommend clearing the use of crystals with the client. In all of these situations, if you're sending distance Reiki to someone or they've requested to have distance Reiki sent to a particular situation or intention, it's always important to let the client know you're using crystals and to make sure it's ok with them. We always want to let clients know what we're doing and to get consent. So first check in with your client and make sure that's ok. Second, you can give them the option of choosing which crystals you use. I recommend limiting the choice to a few crystals so that they aren't overwhelmed with all of the options. You could say something like, "Which of these are you drawn to – kyanite, amethyst, or rose quartz? Which would you like me to use for your Reiki session?" Giving them the option allows them to have some input and control and allows them to be more involved in the session and in their own experience. 4. Use crystals based on the client's intention. Another way that a practitioner might use crystals in a distance session is to ask the client what they would like to focus on during the session and then choose crystals based on the client's focus. As with creating a crystal grid in number two, depending on what the client's intentions are, you can use crystals based on their goals or intentions, like rose quartz for relationships. Once the crystals are chosen, the number of ways to use them is really infinite. You can send Reiki to the crystals during the session as a proxy like in number one. You can lay them out around you as you're sending distance Reiki. You can use crystals in a distance session just the same way that you might use them in an in-person session. For instance, in an in-person session, you might have someone hold the crystals. In a distance session, you can't have someone holding them, and you can't put them on the physical body, but you can have the person picture themselves holding them, or you can picture the person holding the crystal as you send Reiki. And if the person actually does have that kind of crystal, you can encourage them to hold it during the session as you're sending Reiki. There are so many different ways to approach this, and the number of ways is as infinite as Reiki. Don't limit yourself, and know that it's absolutely ok to use them during a distance session in whatever way you feel called and in whatever way resonates with the client as well. I think always clearing the use of crystals with the client first is important. I encourage letting them know before the session, "Hey, I use crystals in my Reiki sessions. I'm going to use them in this way, this way, and this way. I'm going to use this crystal. How does that resonate with you? What are your thoughts? Is that okay?" Just make sure that it's okay with the client beforehand and clear it with them beforehand. I think that's important in the session. Otherwise, you can use them in all different kinds of ways, however you feel called. The sky is the limit, so sending lots of blessings and best wishes to using crystals however you might want to use them in your distance sessions.
