Christian Stone I will be hosting my first Reiki group session and am wondering: How long should it be? How do I fill the time other than having a meditation, grounding, and sending Reiki to the collective? Is it better to have a set intention for each session or to allow them to set their own? Do I allow time for sharing? Congratulations on your upcoming group Reiki session. There are so many ways to do this...the possibilities are endless. Your questions are really great, and the answers really depend on the group, the format, location, amount of time you have, and etc.
Yes, your planned meditation, grounding, and Reiki are all great. There's nothing more you need to do. If you need to fill time, you can always have a talk about Reiki beforehand and answer questions, especially if you have anyone in the group new to Reiki. I actually would recommend starting off with this if you have people in the group who aren't familiar with Reiki. Even if attendees are familiar with Reiki, you may want to ask them about their previous Reiki experiences. This is a great way to get people talking and sharing. For intentions, of course we never need to set an intention for a Reiki session, but it can be helpful...for us as people and not for Reiki. Reiki needs no intentions, but intention setting is a powerful practice. I encourage allowing everyone to set their own, but you can always have a group intention, as well. Both can be true! And yes, you can allow time for sharing if you feel called, but it's also important that no one feels pressured to or that it's expected. Please don't set the expectation that attendees should share or that they're expected to. Sharing should always be done from a place of wanting to be open and share. But not sharing isn't bad. So don't worry if no one shares: they may need time to reflect on and process the experience or they may want to keep it to themselves. Not sharing doesn't mean they didn't have an enjoyable experience. I've done group sessions both online and in person and they are really great. Overall, I recommend not worrying about trying to schedule every minute of your time together and to allow time for your time together to unfold. Here's an example of how I often offer online group Reiki sessions. Have you grabbed the free Reiki Biz Kit yet? It's full of Reiki business info! Comments are closed.
