Christian | Standing Stones Healing Co. I’m new to Reiki as a client and working on meditation as often as I can, which isn't as often as I'd like. But how can I start meditation for my children? I have 3 boys, ages 8, 7, and 5. I would like to teach them how to become grounded. Will meditation music at bed time be enough to change vibrations and allow this flow? What else can I do? I love that you're interested in bringing the power of meditation and grounding to your sons. The first thing I want to do is encourage you to be kind and compassionate with yourself and your meditation practice. Even those of us who meditate every day can have "not enough" feelings about it, so know that even doing it at all is a major accomplishment. Well done!
The same is true of bringing these practices to your kids. Every little thing you do can and does add up to make an impact, so please don't discount anything too small. Starting with meditation music at bedtime is an awesome place to begin. I also recommend powering down during this time. Screens off and time to get quiet, breathe, and relax. This will also help with sleep, too. For helping kids get into meditation, I always always recommend starting with the breath. Even during the music time, this can be time to sit or lie down and take deep breaths while counting. Bonus points if the outbreath count is a little longer than the inbreath count. Also fun is to put a stuffed animal on their belly as a "breathing buddy" to help them relax. There's always more to say, but this is a simple and fun way to get started. And remember that anything you do, no matter how small, is going to help. Even if it isn't consistent (let's face it, life is busy and doing something every day, especially at first, is quite a challenge), it will help, even if it's just in that moment. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. And if you try it, let me know how it goes! Sending blessings to you and your sons! Comments are closed.
