Christian | Standing Stones Healing Co. I volunteer with an organization that provides transitional housing for homeless families with children. Can I use Reiki to cleanse the energy in the space when we are preparing for new families to move in? Has anyone done this and, if so, can you share your method(s) and experience(s), please? Also, if I can cleanse/clear with Reiki do I also need to sage separately or should I use them in tandem? Thanks for this great question and for your important work with families in transition. Yes, you definitely can use Reiki on a space, and this is a wonderful use of Reiki. You can do this in any way you feel called...there is no wrong way. You do not have to use sage or any other clearing techniques unless you feel called to. There are an infinite number of ways to clear a space, but here is how I do it:
1. Starting at the door or entry way, move in a clockwise direction starting from the floor and moving upward ringing out the space and paying special attention to doors, entryways, and corners with tingsha (or any bell, singing bowl, drum, rattle, or noise maker) with the intention of clearing energy. If doing a whole house, move to the next room and the next around in a circle until returning to the starting doorway. (And if doing a whole house, I like to start at the center and address the house with greetings, blessings, and gratitude.) You may also want to open a window or door to allow the energy to move out. 2. Sage in the same way. Or use incense or whatever else resonates with you. 3. Reiki in the same way using any symbols (or none) that feel appropriate wherever they feel appropriate. I usually draw symbols on each wall and in the corners. Some also throw salt in the corners, add crystals or stones, or use moon or Reiki water. The possibilities are infinite, and space clearing is pretty awesome, so however you do it, it's a great thing to do. Thank you, and blessings to your homes and families! Comments are closed.
