Christian Stone Most of my practice has been in-person sessions, but I would REALLY like to grow the distance Reiki portion of my business (only had a few so far). What's the best way for distance clients to find you? Google, SEO, social media? Wondering where to focus my energy first, since I'm not well versed in these areas quite yet. Building an online Reiki business is different from an in-person one. It's much easier and lower cost to start a distance Reiki business. There's no office rent to pay, no driving to clients, lugging around a table, finding parking, doing laundry, or any of the other hassles that can come with an in-person Reiki business. It's cheaper and easier, and I actually started my own Reiki business over the phone offering sessings to friends and friends of friends. I talk about it here.
The miracle of the internet also means that we can reach people all over the world. We can help anyone anywhere from the comfort of our own home. You have to admit that it's pretty amazing to serve the world while wearing sweatpants. But for as easy as it is to start an online distance Reiki business, and for as amazing as it is for its flexibility and convenience, building a thriving distance Reiki business isn't easy. It's way easier to start one than it is to build, and when you have challenges getting your online distance Reiki business going, it's because it is challenging. You're not alone in your challenges of growing your distance Reiki business, and I can't tell you how many Reiki practitioners I've seen over the years start a distance Reiki business, only to shut it down after after a few months because they haven't had any success. It's why I created the Distance Reiki Business Builder program that walks you through the possibilities and process of starting and growing an online Reiki business. There are so many ways to approach growing an online distance Reiki business, but relying on one single method is not the best approach, especially since the online environment changes so quickly. All of the things you mention, including Google listings, search engine optimization, and social media, are part of the equation. I'm not saying you need to do everything and be everywhere (which is often a recipe for burnout disaster), but relying on one single source of growth online is often not the best way to build, since that one single source, like a social media platform, can change at any time. But where do you focus first? I recommend starting with people you already know or have some connection with. Consider DMing your friends to see if they or anyone they know would be interested in trying a distance session and offering feedback. You've already had a few clients, and this is great place to start, too. Your distance clients may have friends who would be interested in trying out a session with you. Definitely ask them...and even consider offering them a free or discounted session if they refer others. I talk more about how to do this in the Distance Reiki Business Builder program, but I recommend starting small with friends and friends of friends, like I did. It's worked pretty well for me! There's a lot to know about building a distance Reiki business, so please feel free to check out the Distance Reiki Business Builder and this episode of the Build Your Reiki Business podcast on Distance Reiki for some distance Reiki session tips.
