Christian | Standing Stones Healing Co. I am in the process of setting up my LLC for my Reiki business and have been looking into business insurance. I am curious as to what type of insurance I need. Any thoughts on what I need to include would also be appreciated. Thanks so much! Congratulations on getting your Reiki business set up! I actually just covered this topic with my Build Your Reiki Business program students, which always brings up a lot of questions.
There are a lot of different insurance providers out there, and I encourage taking some time to find the right fit for you. Many Reiki practitioners will use insurance similar to what massage therapists use, such as from Massage Magazine. Depending upon your own Reiki business, though, it might not be the best fit. Because Reiki is infinitely flexible, so, too, are the business models. But no matter what your Reiki business looks like, having insurance is a good idea. If your Reiki business is more of the traditional in-person client-centered model, I recommend checking the coverage limits, determining if it's a claims made or occurrence insurance, making sure that it includes professional liability (also known as "errors and omissions," or "e&o," which is an important phrase to look for). Professional liability is different from general liability, which covers physical injury. Professional liability covers negligence, such as offering advice that harms a client. There are policies that will provide both general and professional liability, and that's a good idea for a Reiki business. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions, and definitely join us in the Reiki Business Collective for Reiki business owners and those considering it. There are plenty of Reiki business owners with plenty of insurance recommendations in this Facebook group. Thanks! Comments are closed.
